Historical women’s fiction romance- San Francisco 1940’s

Vivienne Hartley, once celebrated as San Francisco’s ballet starlet, now finds herself far from the spotlight, caring for her WWII-wounded, emotionally distant husband, Charlie Sterling. Despite Viv’s efforts to salvage their relationship, Charlie seems more interested in his daily crosswords than connecting with her. Now, she fears not only has The San Francisco Ballet forgotten her, but Charlie too. And even worse, she doesn’t even know who she is anymore.

Viv’s determined to reclaim her identity by revisiting her passion for ballet. The return of Charlie’s charismatic brother, Danny, on furlough pushes Viv to spend even more time in practices just to get away from him. His good looks and charm, though they may work on other women, don’t  appeal to Vivienne who is irritated by his playful nature and his making light of Charlie’s wheelchair-bound situation. Vivienne doesn't like Danny, or the way he makes her feel. Like he’s got her all figured out. Like he’s looking straight into her soul. Like he is seeing her in a way that nobody else has.

Honor is everything in a time of war. Yet, Vivienne finds herself torn between duty and desire, between the man she promised to stand by and the one who makes her feel alive.

Historical Romance set in 1920’s, Portugal

Portugal 1920—Gabriela lives in a quiet seaside village just outside Lisbon. Her dream is to sing fado—the music of saudade, of longing and heartache—like the fadistas who perform in the taverns and alleyways. But her father forbids it, calling it the music of the riffraff. To Gabriela, it’s not just music—it’s her calling,

When her twin brother Tiago disappears without a trace, Gabriela turns to an old legend told by her grandmother—that fado can bring home lost seamen, just as it did for her grandfather. Her father dismisses it as the ramblings of a delusional old woman, but Gabriela can’t shake the hope that singing fado will bring Tiago back.

Despite her father’s warnings, Gabriela sneaks out to sing by the sea, hoping to call her brother home. But instead of Tiago returning in his fishing boat, a mysterious man emerges from the water—alone, with no boat or explanation. He is vague about his past, offering no answers, only deepening the mystery of where he came from. As gossip grows about the stranger from the sea, people begin to wonder if he’s dangerous, if he’s cursed, if he’s even human, while Gabriela only finds herself more captivated.

Caught between her father’s disapproval, her growing attraction to the enigmatic stranger, and the pressure to marry a wealthy businessman who could secure her family’s future, Gabriela must decide whether to follow the path that will save her family—or listen to the pull of fado and the man from the sea. Has she summoned the love of her life, or a danger that could threaten her family?

Rich in folklore, passion, and the soul-stirring tunes of fado, this is a tale of love, loss, and following one's heart.
