Bio

My journey into storytelling began through the lens of my camera. As a photographer, I capture moments of love and the bittersweet—from weddings to heart-wrenching farewells. I love being invisible and standing away from the crowd, finding the moment that will tell the story in one frame.

I used to gravitate to the obvious, the perfectly posed and celebrity smiles. But as I honed my style, I discovered the real stories are in the between shots. The face of the bride’s mother as her only daughter is handed off to the groom, a father tying his son’s shoe, or the kids splashing through puddles and ruining their Sunday best. The most significant thing photography taught me is to listen and observe. I don’t just watch people—I pay attention to the objects, the sounds, the smallest detail around me. I approach writing in the same way, zooming into the small moments, making the mundane something worth reading about.

You can find me on the rugged hiking trails in Arizona, savoring my husband’s homemade chocolate chip cookies, or lagging behind my two kids who aren’t afraid of heights, embracing everything as an adventure. When everyone leaves me for work and school, I curl up in the smallest corner of my house with my laptop, my dog and my bird and write.

Whether in a remote village in Mozambique, through my experiences as a nurse, or while sitting in my backyard, I always find the story. Join me on my writing journey as I explore raw human emotions and people who don’t always make the best choices. Together we’ll discover characters who will undoubtedly help you see your world through a new lens.

FAQ

  • My stories are all inspired in some way by my own personal experiences and journeys in some way. I like to bring in my own influences--my love for ballet, my time in Portugal, my own trauma--and inject some part into my stories.

  • I've just sent off my second novel for edits and hopefully that will be available soon as my debut book. I'm working on a romance right now inspired by my time in Portugal and some Portuguese culture.

  • My love scenes are written with a deep emotional resonance, capturing the intimacy of the moment without explicit details. While the doors aren't exactly closed, I focus more on the emotional journey of my characters rather than the physical specifics. Expect to feel right there in the moment, connected to the characters' in a tastefully style that leaves some things to the imagination.

  • I've always loved the lyrical style of Amy Harmon and Irène Némirovsky. Though they come from very different eras, both have a profound impact on the depth and emotion of my writing. For quick pacing, I admire Colleen Hoover and Jodi Picoult, whose compelling storytelling keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

  • While my writing primarily falls under women's fiction, it encompasses much more. Each story is romance-driven, but isn't strictly classified romance due to the complex character arcs outside of the romantic relationship. My work is considered upmarket fiction, blending literary prose with commercial appeal. Additionally, while set in historical periods, my novels are not strictly historical fiction; they focus on personal stories and relationships rather than specific historical events.

  • I’m eager to connect with my audience, especially through platforms like Instagram, where we can engage and share experiences until I publish my first novel.
